#Interesting beetroot fact – consuming beetroot after a big night out cures hangovers! Yes fellow partygoers finally there is a cure! Beta cyanin, the pigment that gives beetroot its colour, is an antioxidant. Beta cyanin speeds up detoxification in your liver, which enables your body to turn the remaining alcohol into a less harmful substance and that grieving liver can then excrete those toxins at faster levels! So next time you are feeling seedy my suggestion is to chow down and get down on a big plate of beetroot then you can kiss that hangover goodbye, get on with your day and grab some bevs to celebrate!
HOT DIP OF THE WEEK – BLITZED BEET DIP
YOU WILL NEED…
4 FRESH BEETROOT – PEELED AND DICED LARGELY
125G PHILLI CREAM CHEESE
80G PISTACHIO NUTS
TBSN GROUND PAPRIKA
FRESH OREGANO LEAVES
HALF A LEMON CUT INTO CHUNKS
THE BREAK DOWN
STEP ONE – Peel the beetroot when raw and then cut into large sized pieces. Ensure that the beetroot pieces are similar in size as to get an even result when baking them. Whilst prepping the beetroot wash your hands thoroughly every 3-4 minutes otherwise they will dye those lovely mitts of yours!
STEP TWO – Pre-heat the oven to 150 degrees. Lay the cut beetroot out onto a baking tray, don’t forget to put baking paper down, as it will save you a lot of trouble when you have to clean afterwards.
STEP THREE – Next step is to scatter all the remaining ingredients over the raw beetroot as shown in the picture above.
STEP FOUR – Place all raw ingredients into the oven uncovered. Cook till beetroot is soft.
STEP FIVE – Once the mixture has cooled slightly place into a food processor, blend roughly and you’re done!
This dip is best eaten with grilled pita bread, fresh vegetables such as carrot/celery and don’t forget good company!
