Here is a little blog to make sure that while you are busy in the kitchen… YOU CAN DO IT SAFELY!
There is nothing worse than cutting yourself whilst prepping for a meal.
In my personal opinion it’s due to the facts that either..
a) you don’t know how to use a knife properly or b) you haven’t secured your cutting board.
DON’T STRESS! I’M HERE TO HELP!
STEP ONE – Lightly dampen about 5 sheets of paper towelling.
STEP TWO – Place paper towelling on desired prepping area.
STEP THREE – VOILA! You are ready to get chopping.
STEP FOUR – Make sure that when you’re cutting you use the claw method for your “holding” hand. The holding hand is the hand holding the desired vegetable, meat, etc. As seen in the photo above the left hand holds the food in a claw shape and the right hand holds the knife in between the bolster and heel (this is the space usually in the middle of the knife). So in theory when you cut your fingers are tucked in and the knife should pass your index finger on the claw hand (see below how to hold a knife correctly).
